*Updated 2018. Back in 2015 I quit my job, said goodbye to my family and friends and sorted out my definitive interrail packing list. This was all in preparation for two months interrailing across Europe as a single female traveller. This packing list is based on my own experiences and I can honestly say it worked for me when I was both planning my trip and whilst I was travelling.View Post

For my trip I spent a short amount of time considering my options before deciding to travel by train through Europe. At one point, I was looking at the possibility of Trek America but have shelved this for another time. Now that I’ve got everything booked and can relax a little, I’ve unpacked my decision to choose interrail. A famous film quote comes to mind from Hitchcock’s North By Northwest, as Roger says to Eve on an overnight train ride, “Sure beats flying, doesn’t it?”View Post
I’ve not been on an interrail journey before. I only know one person whose been interrailing and they’re currently cycling through Europe and I’m leaving them to it. So, as I’ve been buying, trial packing, booking and organising myself to set-off, I’ve obviously been thinking about what it’s going to be like to actually go, to actually be on my own in Europe.View Post
Mainland Europe might be right next door but I feel there’s always somewhere new to explore, especially as I’m trying to squeeze in as much as I can. As I said, I’ve cut Finland from my route for being too far out, and I put Spain and Portugal in the cold as I’ve done them a lot before and don’t feel the need to go back just yet. In the evenings when I review my route, which is every evening now until I go, a few places shout at me from my list as particularly special.View Post
*Updated 2018. When I left University my plan was to go interrailing with a couple of friends but the trip didn’t materialise, which was definitely a good thing for my wallet. It also allowed me to get into a pretty good career path where three years on I’m confident enough to take a summer off exploring.View Post
