Venice has always been a dream destination and to finally arrive was slightly surreal. After a stop off at Vallach in Austria en route from Lake Bled, I was ready to be amazed. At first, it felt like I was recalling ‘spoilers’ I’d seen on Google images rather than being there, apart from when I was traipsing my luggage up bridges with steps.View Post
Showing off Slovenia at it’s best, Lake Bled is difficult to describe as it’s more about how it feels than it looks, or even what you can do here. The picturesque lake is of course the central force, with a backdrop of mountains and historical buildings. Spending three nights here, it was relaxing, joyful and I guess the main buzz word I’d attribute it would be ‘serene’.View Post
Unfortunately I didn’t have time for a three week update, but as I reach the halfway point or ‘four week milestone’ of my journey it feels symbolic, and I have a day on the train to contemplate and sleep. Continuing my extended tour of the Balkans, I’m currently heading to the capital of Slovenia. After some initial worry, the trains seem to be better than expected and I must be re-entering a more affluent part of Europe as the trains have precious air-con.View Post
